BoE Survey Signals Rise in UK Mortgage Demand for Q2

British lenders expect mortgage demand to pick up in the three months to the end of May after remaining flat at the start of 2026, according to a survey published by the Bank of England on Thursday.

The central bank’s quarterly Credit Conditions Survey also indicated that demand for unsecured consumer lending is likely to remain broadly unchanged over the same period.

The findings are based on responses from lenders collected between February 23 and March 13, offering an early indication of improving activity in the housing market
