British house price growth slowed to its weakest pace since September 2024 in January, according to data released by the Office for National Statistics on Wednesday, while rental inflation remained steady.

Annual house price inflation eased to 1.3% in January, down from 1.9% in December 2025, bringing the average UK property price to £268,000 ($359,000).

Meanwhile, private-sector rents in February were 3.5% higher than a year earlier — unchanged from January and marking the joint-slowest rate of increase since March 2022.
